EPISODE 14 - Sugarthief
Catchy, easy, full of soul indie pop, lovable songs to get while they’re going. Sugarthief come from Birmingham, born with the brothers Jordi and Jack James, and develops into a band where every element is in its right place. Bright sounds that exploits a neat and essential harmony, and soft melodies ready to accompany us in a stimulating listening. The last Arctic Monkeys but also the first Style Councils, if you want to dive into the past, when black music was reinterpreted with brit taste and some more acid guitar (like in “Why'd You Listen (You Shouldn't Listen)”) pushes the limit a little further, revealing not only a certain nostalgic feeling but also a more psychedelic vein. The real explosion comes in the moment of their engaging and dynamic lives. They shared the stage with the main groups that mark out the Birmingham scene: Ocean Color Scene, Editors, The Twang, staging an electricity that leaves its mark. As the staff of Brexhip, we wanted to have a first-hand experience and so we did a few nights ago at The Grace in London. https://brexhip.com/it/ https://www.sugarthief.co.uk
Couples - Episode 15
Couples are guys of few words and a lot of soul, they tell their story on stage : blood, sweat and a lot of passion. We met them at the Camden Assembly in London some time ago and this is our Episode. "Rip Em Out" is a revelatory piece of the London quintet's intentions: lashes of electric noise / alt-rock area guitar, incessant drumming, and a voice that are directed in a crescendo of tension that flows into an emotional explosion with unpredictable outcomes. It's hard not to be impressed by how good Couples' lives are: they play without hesitation and give their best. We have the (unfortunate) task of describing in words a force of rock'n’roll nature that deserves to be experienced in the appropriate fora. @couplesband
Episode 12: Cactus?
ENG: We interviewed Cactus? at the Camden Assembly in London, where they hypnotized the audience with that mixture of rhythm and samples that seem to be taken from a tilted game room and that made us love them from the first moment. Their Superfastlofishitdisco EP "No People Party" is a rush of adrenaline and tension on stage, that skinny, nervous, captivating, but far from systematic to pop structures, is one of the most engaging acts for those who love music that doesn't surrenders to boredom and stereotypes and focuses on originality, just with the means available. Cactus? live their moment in the best possible way, having fun and above all remaining immersed in their own sound, wondering what is missing and what is too much, there is an empathic contact between them, maybe this is the secret of one of the bands that has created more curiosity, in recent times.
EPISODE 13 - Hourglvss
As they just have finished their UK Tour, we certainly couldn't miss the Hourglass, bewitched as we are by their single "Johnny" and charmed by the Morriconian atmospheres of "Dead Man's Hand". We went to listen to them at The Grace to deepen what they describe as "fantasy pop", a style that include fashion, visual concept and music, which makes them unique in the current music scene. Here are the Hourglvss in this new Episode, all for you. https://brexhip.com/it/ https://www.facebook.com/Hourglvss/

Once Upon Us : project documentary
Once Upon Us is a composite art project by Immuto in collaboration with sound artist Alessandro Baldessari, choreographer Riccardo Buscarini, Professor Vardhman Rakyan and Queen Mary University of London. Inspired by the latest medical research on how our environment influences our genetic expression and how memories could move across generations through DNA coding, Once Upon Us launches as part of the London Festival of Architecture of June 2019 and explores the blurring boundaries of our individuality across space and time. From 26 June to 7 July, a participatory and sensory installation transmits memories gathered from across the world. The interaction of sound, reflections and changing light becomes a metaphor for the dance that involves the present we are, the past we contain and the future we are creating. On 27 June, audience and leading experts from different fields (from epigenetics to psychology and wisdom traditions) engage in a thought-provoking conversation about the interplay of ancient and new theories on the theme of ancestral memory. On 2 July and as part of the New Horizons in Genomics week at Queen Mary University, artists and scientists come together in a playful evening to build a sculptural installation that questions how our choices shape our relationship with ourselves and the world around us. Where and when do we start? Where and when do we end? Are the boundaries of who we are really as defined in time and space as we think? Concept by Alessandro Baldessari, Francesca Lando, Riccardo Buscarini. Choreography by Riccardo Buscarini. Sound by Alessandro Baldessari. Space by Francesca Lando. Video by Alessandro Mariscalco
